$1.2 TRILLION???
You might want to sit down for this one.
I had to reread this headline three times because I genuinely thought I was misreading it.
Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense system is now estimated to cost $1.2 TRILLION over the next 20 years.
Trillion. Yes, with a T.
And I need to ask a very basic question here: What the hell are we doing?
Because every single day, Americans are told there’s “not enough money” to help them.
❌Not enough money for affordable housing.
❌Not enough money for healthcare.
❌Not enough money for lowering grocery costs.
❌Not enough money for struggling schools.
❌Not enough money for childcare.
But suddenly there’s potentially $1.2 trillion for a giant futuristic “Golden Dome” space defense project? Come on.
As a trained economist, I want people to understand how massive this number actually is.
One-point-two trillion dollars could transform lives in this country.
✅It could dramatically expand affordable housing.
✅It could reduce healthcare costs for millions of families.
✅It could rebuild infrastructure, strengthen schools, modernize transportation, and invest in clean energy and American jobs.⬆️That’s real economic impact.
That’s the kind of spending that improves people’s lives and strengthens the economy long term.
Instead, we’re talking about pouring unimaginable amounts of money into a vaguely defined missile shield with no clear cost certainty and no clear timeline.
Support a campaign focused on investing in Americans instead of endless bloated defense projects.
And what frustrates me most is how disconnected this feels from ordinary life.
People are stressed.
They’re watching gas prices rise.
They’re struggling with rent.
They’re putting groceries back on shelves because they can’t afford them.
The President of the United States is supposed to make life easier for the people he serves.
That should be the job.
Not pitching trillion-dollar science-fiction projects while working families are barely holding it together.
Help me bring some economic sanity back to Washington.
Americans deserve leaders who look at a trillion dollars and think, “How do we help people live better?” not “How do we build a Golden Dome?”
